"Committed to Our Community" means we are a law firm that believes lawyers are community servants first. Lawyers are charged with the public’s trust, and as lawyers we believe we must serve our clients without forgetting our role as servants at-large.
Our commitment to our community does not end with service to our clients. Serving the community is not a 9 to 5 commitment. The Coles Firm P.C. serves our community beyond the courtrooms and boardrooms of America. We serve our community through volunteer efforts, financial contributions, and pro bono legal advice.
Here is a sample of community organizations we are proud to serve:
AIDS ARMS
AIDS Arms, Inc. is a non-profit organization that assists individuals in accessing the health care, resources and support necessary to successfully manage the challenges of living with HIV/AIDS. Mike recently joined AIDS Arms, Inc. as a member of its Board of Directors.
BIG THOUGHT
Big Thought is a non-profit creative learning organization striving to make imagination a part of everyday learning for children using arts, culture, and education as tools and catalysts. Big Thought supports community partnerships, cultural integration for academic achievement, youth development, and family learning. It partners with community agencies including school districts, library systems, child care centers, recreation centers, and juvenile detention facilities to support the success and education of our rising generation in school and life. S.T.A.G.E.
The Society for Theatrical Artists Guidance and Enhancement (S.T.A.G.E.) is a performing arts non-profit based in Dallas. S.T.A.G.E. began in 1983 as a small group of committed artists who sought to serve the performing arts community in North Texas. Since 1998, Mike Coles has provided pro bono legal services to S.T.A.G.E. In 1999, Mike joined S.T.A.G.E. as a member of its Board of Directors. In 2004, Mike was elected President of the Board of Directors, a position he holds today.
DAYL
The Dallas Association of Young Lawyers (DAYL) is a non-profit association of lawyers in Dallas. DAYL provides lawyers with education opportunities as well as opportunities to serve the greater Dallas community. Our commitment to DAYL includes participation in community outreach activities. Dustin serves as a Co-Chair of the DAYL Teen Leadership Committee, a committee designed to instill a sense of community and leadership in high school seniors throughout Dallas. Paul serves as a Co-Chair of the DAYL Ties That Bind Committee, a committee formed to bring lawyers into public schools to teach students about professional dress and provide role models for future success.
In May 2009, Paul and Dustin were chosen to join the DAYL Foundation as Fellows. The DAYL Foundation was charted by the State of Texas in June 1988 to provide support for law-related matters. In 1999, the DAYL Foundation became a granting body and since then, has given more than $80,000 to various charitable and education programs sponsored by non-profit organizations in the Dallas area.
Public Speaking
Public speaking creates an opportunity for lawyers to provide an audience with timely and critical information. Public speaking encourages employers to use Best Practices and supports the goal of employers and employees: a successful business where each contributor is recognized and acknowledged for his or her unique and individual contributions. We have a long-standing tradition of public speaking, including speaking appearances at no cost or for a minimal honorarium. Below is a list of organizations who have invited our attorneys to speak, and we gladly obliged:
Council on Education in Management
State Bar of Texas, State Bar College
Center for International Studies
San Antonio Free Trade Alliance
Lorman Education Services
